2015 Cannes Film Festival Fashion

By Kristen Peuvion on May 28, 2015

The Cannes Film Festival is an annual celebration of the newest films in all different genres. It takes place in Cannes, France, which is where the festival gets its name. It is known as one of, if not the, most prestigious film festival in the world and it is by invite only.

The exclusive guest list usually includes some of Hollywood’s biggest names and with any awards show with a guest list like that, you know that you’re going to see some gorgeous gowns walking down the red carpet. So let’s take a look at some of this year’s Cannes Film Festival best dressed celebrities.

Marion Cotillard

Marion Cotillard is probably best known for her role in “Inception,” but she’s definitely no stranger to the red carpet and that’s pretty obvious based on her look at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. She wowed us with a short Dior Couture dress.

On a red carpet that usually is full of floor length gowns, Cotillard took a risk by wearing a short gown, but it was a risk that definitely paid off! The gorgeous detailing and beading on the dress paired with the beautiful deep color looked flawless on her, and the Chopard jewelry complemented the dress perfectly!

Jourdan Dunn

Jourdan Dunn may not have any ties to the film industry but that didn’t stop her from getting an invite to this film festival. But what Dunn lacks in film experience, she makes up for in stunning beauty – after all she is a model. And she showed off her stunning looks in a beautiful sheer black gown.

It was a Ralph and Russo Couture mermaid style gown that complemented the model’s thin frame perfectly. The sheerness of the gown was sexy without being over the top and her simple accessories were just what the gown needed.

Joan Smalls and Kendall Jenner

Red carpets are usually known for floor length, intricate, beautiful gowns, but Joan Smalls and Kendall Jenner decided to go a different route. They went for a trendier look, rather than a classic gown and chose to wear a two piece set that included a crop top and floor length skirt.

Joan Smalls wore an all white Alaïa skirt and top. The whole look had a very bohemian feel due to the sheerness and textured fabric. Kendall Jenner wore a similar Alaïa matching skirt and top but in all black. It had a similar bohemian vibe about it along with the same sheerness and texture. Joan Smalls definitely pulled off the look better, but both took a major fashion risk wearing a crop top and skirt instead of a gown.

Daria Strokous

This actress and model wore a lilac Luisa Beccaria gown. It was full of volume with its tulle tiers. The color complimented her skin tone beautifully and the voluminous skirt was bold, but didn’t overwhelm her small frame. Strokous paired the gown with Atelier Swarovski jewelry and a Paula Cademartori clutch that kept the look simple and classy.

Lindsay Ellingson

Victoria’s Secret “Angel” Lindsay Ellingson doesn’t need to do much to look good. After all, you don’t become a Victoria’s Secret model by being average looking. But Ellingson looked even better than usual at the Cannes Film Festival this past weekend.

The model wore a silvery-white Sophie Theallet gown with a colorful band at the waist line and colorful heels to match. The silhouette was classic and gorgeous and the plunging neckline added just the right amount of sexiness to the look.

Sienna Miller

Sienna Miller is no stranger to the Cannes Film Festival so she knows what she is doing on the red carpet. At this year’s festival, Miller definitely showed this!

She showed up on the red carpet wearing a Valentino Couture spring/summer 2015 gown. It was a beautiful gown in subdued primary colors with a hint of silver. The interesting top was a welcome element of surprise and uniqueness on the red carpet.

This year’s Cannes Film Festival lucky invited attendees did not disappoint on the red carpet! For a festival known for celebrating the film industry’s accomplishments, the fashion may have taken the front seat. These stars rocked this year’s Cannes Film Festival red carpet better than ever!
